Who said fishing is a pastime that only your grandpa can enjoy? Not us. Get hooked on the sport that’s been around since man (or woman) discovered the fish. It doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, or somewhere in between. From Poughkeepsie to Peking, fishing reigns supreme (pardon the hyperbole). Anyhow, there’s a little bit of fisherman in each of us. So get in touch with your inner angler and hop onboard. We’re going cruising for some fish. Yes. Rainbow Trout is about fishing but more than that, it’s about having fun on the water, on the shore, and in the kitchen. We’ve rounded up team of pros with insight to spare, and they're anxious to share. Don’t miss the boat! It’s time to get your feet wet and find out what the fuss is all about. Grab your gear and let’s go fishing!

WE HAD A DREAM TOO: A NORTHERN CIVIL RIGHTS DOCUMENTARY: Conversations with African Americans from the Bedford Hills NY area who migrated to the north in the 40's-50's from the south, where they found a different type of racism which was more institutional and subtle, therefore easily overlooked during the struggle of the 60's and in many cases still existing today. We see and hear about their participation in the march on Washington, their hopes and dreams, and the realities that they are left with. This community, lead by the recently deceased Rufus A Strother Jr., Pastor Emeritus of Antioch Baptist Church in Bedford Hills NY, had their own Civil rights movement right in Bedford Hills, an affluent Suburb of New York City, whether it be school riots, racist Judges, military sorties to the South or integration of the Local Volunteer Fire Department to name just a few. These profoundly articulate people, lead by Pastor Strother in the very last interview he was to give before passing, give us a very moving, intelligent, concise picture of the state of racial relations past and present in this country.
MORE STORIES FROM THE GAY RODEO CIRCUIT Four years ago, while serving in the military, Ric and Rudy met and fell in love. Ric in the army, Rudy in the navy. Ric has since left the army and now works for the N.I.H. as a psyche research analyst. In June of 2003, a monthly event held by the local gay C&W bar,, Ric cross-dressed for the first time in his life, discovering a part of himself that he had always missed. That night, Destiny B Childs was born. Within a month, Destiny had competed and won the title of Miss Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association. Following Destinys lead, Rudy cowboyed up and found the inner as well as outer strength to compete in rodeo as a rough stock rider. Over the last year Destiny has raised over $17,000 for local charities, and Rudy has buckled in steer riding competing in Atlanta, LA, and DC. Their relationship is an amazing testimony of devotion, loyalty and love, with Ric (Destiny) videotaping Rudys rides, so they can together study and learn and then running to fulfill her duties as she competes for the title of Miss IGRA with Rudy watching from the audience. Destinys energy and sense of duty makes her a true cowgirl. They have a 9 year old daughter, which they share custody of with Rudys ex-wife.
We follow Destiny, along with Rudy, her drag mother Jymmye Jaymes, and a couple of drag children as they prepare and travel to the international finals competition. Once at the competition we have unprecedented access to the preparation and actual competition with many tense moments and then the final outcome of Destiny being given 1st runner up, with Arizonas own, Pussy LaHoot winning the title. We also see Rudy and Destiny competing in rodeo events at the 2004 finals where Destiny picks up a ribbon in goat dressing and Rudy covers and picks up a ribbon in bull riding. Along the way we meet folks like Sonny Koerner, rough stock rider on the weekends, counter-terrorism consultant during the week and Lifetime member of ASGRA, As well as a cast of character from the DC area both in and out of the Rodeo. Having now completed his first year on the circuit, Rudy is primed to pick up the charge for the Bull riding title and Destiny is off fulfilling her duties as 1st runner-up to Miss IGRA these two represent the future of the IGRA in all its aspects.
